Calling all Skiers and Snowboarders: The Peninsula Ski Club will be joining other clubs from the Blue Ridge Ski Council to bring you a fun-filled trip to one of the Northeast's most exciting ski resorts!
The destination: Located in far northern Vermont, Jay Peak is known for its snowfall (359" avg.), diverse terrain, tree skiing for all abilities, and indoor water park (separate admission).
Skiing: Nine lifts provide access to 81 trails on 385 acres (including 100+ acres of trees and glades) with 2,153' of vertical drop. The terrain is rated at 20% green, 40% blue, and 40% black. Snowmaking coverage is 80%, providing a backstop when the best snow in the East (#1 in SKI magazine) falls short.
Lodging: We'll be staying in the Stateside Hotel and Baselodge, one of two base areas at Jay, with ski-in ski-out access to lifts serving green, blue, and black terrain.
Transportation: Jay Peak is a long way from Hampton Roads, so we have a couple of different options for getting there. Participants can either PYOT (Provide Your Own Transportation) or catch a BRSC bus in the D.C. or Baltimore area (TBD). Those choosing to ride the bus may want to break up the trip on either or both ends with an overnight stay near the pickup point, as some of us have done in the past. Contact the Trip Captain for more information about transportation options.
About Winterfest: This is the Blue Ridge Ski Council's annual trip to the Northeast, complementing their popular Western Carnival and Eurofest trips. Council trips leverage the buying power of multiple clubs to secure great deals on lifts and lodging, and always include a few social functions. You'll have ample opportunity to meet, mingle, swap tales, and ski with members of other clubs in our region—and probably make some new friends in the process.
PSC's estimated package price of $1,136 includes:
- Roundtrip BRSC motor coach to Jay Peak, departing from the D.C. or Baltimore area (TBD)
- 4 days skiing (M-Th)
- 5 nights lodging at the Stateside Hotel and Baselodge (double occupancy)
- Daily hot breakfast
- BRSC parties: Mon. welcome reception, Weds. après ski reception, Thurs. farewell reception
The bus will depart from Jay Peak on the morning of March 11 for the return trip. If you're not riding the bus, you can add a 5th day of skiing (Fri.) for just $31.
Deduct $103 if you won't be skiing or snowboarding, and $227 if you PYOT. Add $454 for a single occupancy room in the Stateside Hotel.
A $25 discount applies for sign-ups with deposit by Sept. 30, 2021.
